Meet The Team

Richard Taylor- SPE Director

Richard has been involved in equestrian events since a very young age. He competed in various Pony Club events including Tetrathlon, eventing and hunter trials and started helping out at horse trials at the age of 15. He and a friend used to go to Blenheim Horse Trials to help string the course and do odd jobs. He eventually got a job working for course builder David Evans building jumps. Richards articulate nature ensures every fence he makes is built to perfection! Alongside working for David, Richard started building cross country fences for the farm at home and in 1999; Grange Farm cross country course was open for schooling.

Since then Richard and David have gone into partnership and together they have many accolades to their name including being the builders of two European Championships (Blenheim 2005 and Luhmuhlen 2011), an Asian Games (Guangzhou, China 2010) and an Olympic Games (Beijing 2008).

Alongside their cross country course building, David and Richard construct and install portable cross country jumps for private individuals, training courses, pony clubs and horse trials at home and abroad. Richard builds and designs most of the courses at Swalcliffe Park Equestrian.

Barbara Taylor-SPE Director

Barbara is the wonder that makes the wheels go round at Grange Farm! Barbara runs Grange Farm B&B and cooks shoot lunches for various syndicates in the Oxfordshire area. As well as this she coordinates all the bookings of the cross country course including Pony Club and Riding Club camps, clinics and rallies. Barbara can regularly be seen setting up dressage arenas, driving around fence judges delivering refreshments or greeting competitors and their families at combined training events. She is SPEs very own wonder woman!

Sarah Beveridge-SP Livery/SPE administrator & Horse Trials Secretary

Sarah became part of the SPE team in 2010. She looks after Swalcliffe Park Horse Trials which take place in March each year. As well as organising the horse trials, Sarah coordinates all the entries for the event which total approximately 500.

Along with Barbara, Sarah coordinates bookings for the arena, organises Swalcliffe Park Equestrian events including evening talks, clinics and competitions.

In her spare time, Sarah competes her horse Pancho in hunter trials, dressage, show jumping and eventing and is a big chicken and duck fan!

Simon Parrott-Course builder and general maintenance man!

Simon is the most recent member of the team and a very valued one! Simon supports Richard with the manual jobs such as setting out cross country courses, building new jumps and complexes, fencing, delivering hay and straw to the liveries and everything in between.

When hes not working with us hes tinkering with another type of horse power- Simon is a huge land rover enthusiast and can often be found pulling them apart and putting them back together again.
